More to be revealed soon …

Spring is here and dare I say that I’m on track. Does it mean I am finally getting a handle on this whole writing and publishing book business?
As I look out at the first sparkling, sunny, Spring day I mourn Winter just a tiny bit because this Winter has been an especially productive season for me. This is quite the understatement, as I’ve completed, had edited, designed and last week, sent off to the printer the second book in my As the Crow Flies series. And I admit to loving nearly every minute of plotting, planning and writing another story about Danika and Yatimah.

For those who don’t know my fictional family out in the Channel Country let me tell you about them. Danika and her family live on a vast cattle station in outback Australia.

About the Channel Country from Wikipedia – en.wikipedia.org

The Channel Country is region of outback Australia located mostly in the state of Queensland but also in portions of South Australia, Northern Territory and New South Wales. It features an arid landscape with a series of ancient flood plains from rivers which only flow intermittently. The principal rivers are Georgina River, Cooper Creek and the Diamantina River. When there is sufficient rainfall in their catchment area these rivers flow into Lake Eyre, South Australia. In most years the flood waters are absorbed into the earth or evaporate, however occasionally there are significant rainfall events to travel to and fill Lake Eyre.
The primary land use is cattle grazing which has replaced sheep grazing. It is estimated that in the Queensland section alone there are between half to one million head of cattle.

Yatimah is Danika’s grey Arabian mare who made the long trip from Egypt to Australia. Danika considers Yatimah to be the most beautiful, intelligent, and loved horse on Dalry Station. In fact I think she considers Yatimah to be the most beautiful Arabian mare in the world. Not at all biased!
The first time Danika saw Yatimah, she gleamed silver-grey against the red outback soil. Yatimah galloped into her life and stole her heart, beginning a special friendship. Little did Danika know the finely-made Arabian mare would prove to be as brave and true as her heritage suggested.
In this first book you are introduced to Danika, her family and Yatimah as you share their outback adventures …

Book two is titled Danika and Yatimah in a Race for Rain

The stylish cover and inside illustrations are once again painted and drawn by Willa Frayser www.willafrayerstudio.com
