Earlier this year in Australia (April 9th 2011) we saw the running of the inaugural ‘Shadwell Arabian Mile’ at Caulfield Racecourse. This was a milestone first in the world of the Arabian horse in Australia. The winner was Franshar Park K Shar (Shah Wazir x Ulinga Kaita), a 14yo Gelding. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum made this event possible with his generous purse of $20,000. The race was a fantastic promotion for the purebred Arabian, and in spite of one or two mistakes a great success. The organisers are planning on making it an annual event.
