HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Fellowship of Australian Writers Queensland (FAWQ) celebrating 90 years!

FAWQ – HISTORY
The Fellowship of Australian Writers (QLD) Inc. is Queensland’s oldest writers association. It originated in 1921 as the Queensland Artists and Authors Association which amalgamated in the 1950’s with The Brisbane Writers Group.
FAWQ is and always has been a significant force in Queensland’s cultural life. It was at the forefront of lobbying for a Cultural Centre in Brisbane, worked tirelessly to establish the Queensland Writers Centre and was closely involved in the planning and conduct of the Annual Writers Convention, which evolved into the Warana Writers Week and is now the Brisbane Writers Festival. Membership of the association covers all ages and writing experience – established writers, emerging writers and aspiring writers.
