St Joseph’s Como/Oyster Bay is holding The Great Celebrity Book Auction
Starting on the 19th August THE BIG BOOK AUCTION
St Joseph’s Primary School Como/Oyster Bay have collected over 200 books with messages from famous actors, authors, sports stars, Olympians, artists, singers, and even politicians. The signed books some with inspirational messages are being sold on Ebay starting the 19th of August. I’m very proud to have a tiny part in this great initiative.
WHAT IS THE BIG BOOK AUCTION?
As parents and teachers we all recognise the importance of reading and we want to show our kids – and the community – that books have the power to transform lives.
St Joseph’s Como/Oyster Bay is holding The Great Celebrity Book Auction and we will be writing to a list of Australian sports people, authors and celebrities asking them to donate a book that:
a. a pre-owned book of your own which has been important in your life with a message written in the book of why that book was important to you; or
b. a signed copy of a book which has been written by you with an inspirational message.
With the books we receive we will be running The Great Celebrity Book Auction where we will auction off the signed books to raise money.
The funds raised through The Great Celebrity Book Auction will be used to support literacy at our school by purchasing resources for the library and classrooms with books in both text and visual form.
