It’s a double FAWQ celebration …
Book launch 4
It’s a doubly exciting year for everyone associated with  FAWQ. Not only is FAWQ celebrating a big birthday but also the launch of the anthology, “Tales from our Veranda”.   Our FAWQ President Joanna Barret would like to invite members and non members to the launch at the Brisbane Writers Festival at 11 am on Saturday the 7th of September. The launch will be held in the Red Box at the State Library of Queensland.  As Jo said in the August copy of Scope Magazine, Tales from our Veranda is one of the many ways in which our branch of FAW shows our love and commitment to the written word. The anthology contains short stories, poems and articles by members.”
The delightful Queensland house on the cover is an old homestead from the Boonah area, painted by Janice Deane. I love the way the steps enticed the reader up onto the veranda and inside the book. Copies can be purchased from the Festival or you can contact FAWQ via email fawqwrite@gmail.com

No, it’s not a story, it’s fact – 92 years old! At the July meeting, members of the Queensland Branch of the Fellowship of Australian Writers celebrated FAWQ’s 92nd birthday.
“To grasp and hold a vision, that is the very essence of successful leadership – ” ~ Ronald Reagan
Can you imagine what an amazing feat it is to have an ongoing group of writers remain dedicated to the written word for 92 years?
On this momentous birthday we should take time to recognise the vision of the past and the determination of the present. When any organisation / group / club or society survives so many decades it tells us about the exceptional leaders of the past, all dedicated to the common goal of generosity, determination and the sharing of knowledge. What an inspiration.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAWQ
