BELIEVING IN YOUR HAPPINESS

Our first glimpse of Roger

It had been several years since we owned a dog. Our beloved Borzoi, Midas was lost due to renal failure over two years ago and although we wanted another dog for some reason we couldn’t make a decision. Go to a dog show friend’s advised and off we went and came home even more confused, we loved all the dogs! In the end we had no idea what we were going to do so it was easier to do nothing. We had made plans so we decided it was not time for a dog even though close friends kept encouraging us not to give up.

Excuses appeared from everywhere, we lived a busy life, what happens if we want to travel, what, if, what, if, what, if became the catch cry. Yes, you could say we were in denial.

I constantly asked Don, “what will we do?

He would answer, “Something will turn up!”

Guess what – the Universe said, your wish is my command and ‘something’ turned up. In the middle of February 2014 a very strange little dog was spotted. We’d been wondering what had been eating the cat food. He wouldn’t come near us so I made him a bed in the carport and as the weeks went by he eventually made friends. He was incredibly timid. There was no identification/no microchip, it seemed he’d been dumped out on the road and he made the journey down our driveway. We called him Roger as it suited him because he was as funny as the dog on the Schmackos commercial! We had always owned hairy, big dogs, Scotch collies and Borzoi!

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.

And here we are with what we think is a Chihuahua, Foxy cross. A tiny little fellow who had no idea of his size, a pint size person who stands up to the horses, who can’t get a handle on this tiny little creature after Midas. He bossed the cats until they decided they had to gang up on him. I’m amazed that Bobby is now incredibly tolerant of him BUT Ginger swipes at him at every opportunity! As if Roger cares, he still adores to harass them. He’s far too smart for his own good.

ROGER QUOTE FB IMG_3239

I silenced the voice in my head telling me I wanted a cute little author type fluffy dog because Roger makes me laugh every day and makes (us) really happy. It seems we’ve taken a leap of faith, adopted Roger (poor little fellow had to have his operation) and taken the dive into the next chapter of our life.

We always believed in ourselves and we have always believed in our decisions whether they were to do with our Arabian horse breeding, my writing or our life in general. We also believed how we can all take comfort in the fact that everything happens for a reason and everything will fall into place at the right time.

Seems Roger Rowley is here to stay …
