Queensland Writers Week was celebrated by an interesting group of writers just over a week ago at the St Luke’s historic hall. Several of Toowoomba’s writers’ groups were represented and around eighteen writers shared their work. Organiser Susan Skowronski from Writers@Work said, “there was a surprising variety of material, ranging from trues stories of Vietnam and Sudanese refugees, to memoirs and fiction.”
We were treated to bush poetry and modern verse, some very moving and some very funny. Susan read one of her humorous poems titled Cricket Match and I felt privilaged to share the first chapter of Tails Carried High with the audience.
