SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR MY READERS
When you combine the character, intelligence and beauty of an Arabian mare, a child who loves her, dire circumstances and a worthwhile cause.
What do you have? You have – Danika and Yatimah in a Race for Rain
I was thinking the other day how with most things I’ve done over time, I’ve always opted to be the small fish in a big pond. I’m happiest and most productive swimming around achieving my goals at my own pace. My choices have always been based on how much I can manage to do and how well. Whether it’s painting, breeding horses, writing, taking photographs or even gardening by working at my own pace I work towards the best result I can manage.
I’ve found in the last few years that writing books is a very personal exercise. When I think of the time it takes me to write my book, then the effort to have it edited and then published I almost amaze myself. The hardest part is waiting for feedback when the first copies are sold. Much like hoping that a person who buys a horse from you is happy. You wait on tender hooks for that first phone call … Same, same for feedback, waiting for a verdict on your newly released baby.
These are many things that constantly remind me of my duty to the people who support me in what I do. The people who have brought my horses and now the readers who buy my books are never far from my thoughts. My goal is simple, work hard to keep these generous people happy and to make sure I constantly take notice of their life passions.
You know, I never dreamt for a moment that I would have my books with readers all over the world but it’s happened. Many other writers have asked me how? One answer could be that I love what I do. Another is certainly about being this small fish in a big pond where I can offer a personalised touch.
For instance, offering a special gift.
And this is what I’m doing for the first 30 people who purchase a copy of the new release
DANIKA AND YATIMAH IN A RACE FOR RAINfrom my website.
I am gifting a printed copy of Willa Fraysers beautiful drawing of El Muhh, the stallion of Danika’s dreams.

Hi Carmel, loved the book 🙂 the story was wonderful, reminded me of my teenage years – dreaming of owning an Arabian, where my Arabian was great at everything. lol.. Our girls will love these books when that are bit older. Can’t wait for them to read and enjoy them also. Well done on another superb book. – it is so “Carmel”, which makes it unique and special.
Any horse loving teenager (or adult) for that matter will love this book! Congratulations again.
