There is always hope… by Carmel Rowley

As I sit and write my latest fictional story I think about the emotions of my characters, the people, and the horses. It’s important to make them memorable maybe even great. A big task!

I wonder how we recognise greatness?
Is it when honest humility spreads through our every fibre, and we feel overwhelmed? If it is, Arabian horse breeders know this feeling well.

It’s felt every time a stallion snorts at the horizon or a newborn foal stretches out in his first real gallop.

One of the great things we take from this joining of man and horse, is hope.  Those who have known a great horse, know what I mean. It’s as though a horse were not so much an animal but a clue to life’s riddle.

Even when you lose a great horse he is never really gone. Years on you still see him clearly and still feel the same emotions, hindered only by a tinge of regret that he is no longer there to touch.

“For him who is joined to all the living, there is hope.” Beautiful words, when you think about what has gone and what is yet to come. Horses are truly a great legacy.

Do you want to understand the universe? Quietly place your hand on your horses neck and think about how he came into being. In some subconscious way, every horse increases the understanding of life, and gives hope.
