Why we love Arabian horses…

I adore these words. I found them as I trailed through my long list of reference books, so I marked the passage to share…. The words beautifully describe the character of the Arabian horse.
From Georg Olms amazing book: ASIL ARABIANS The Noble Arabian Horses

An Arabian is like a partner to a human being. Eyes and ears are constantly darting back and forth, holding contact with the person on its back and with what lies in front of both. Each sound one utters out of lust or necessity instantly triggers off something: the legs move faster or more slowly, the nostrils give a snort of well-being or the neighing which indicates joyful excitement, a sound I heard once when we reached a crest of a desert sand-dune, a vantage point from which the green valley of the Nile opens up before the eye and I uttered a spontaneous cry of “MY God”.

A horse like that as a partner. The snorting, the neighing, the drumming of the hooves and the whistle of the wind when they gallop – that is the pleasure, pure unadulterated pleasure.’ W.Schraps (1982)
