For my Sunday Quote of the week I salute the Champions from yesterday, today and the future…
“Most look up and admire the stars. A champion climbs a mountain and grabs one.” anon
On Saturday we saw the champion sprinter ‘Black Caviar’ win her tenth race out of ten starts, she is already among the best race horses Australia has produced in the past 50 years.
Fans waved flags, ecstatically leaping for joy in honour of their hero winning again. This is the sort of story we all love a supreme sprinting horse beating all the odds well on her way to becoming one of the greats of the Australian turf and quite possibly one the worlds best. This Group One win in the Newmarket Handicap (1200m) was Black Caviar’s 10th from as many starts – an undefeated run no other horse in this country has ever achieved. Her trainer Peter Moody loves her and it clearly shows when he speaks about her. “The only thing that I ever worry about is hurting her,” he said. “I’d be devastated for the owners and all the people who have come to see her if something had gone wrong.”
And with this in mind I wish every success to the competitors at the 2011 Australian National Arabian Championships are due to begin on Wednesday the 16th through to Sunday the 20th in Tamworth NSW.
