Consistent babies of the past…

I often wonder how many people question the consistency in their life.

Personally, our life fluctuates when it comes to consistency – sometimes we tend to travel the lesser known tracks in the choices we’ve made and the way we strive to achieve our goals. In saying this, there’s no doubt that the place where we always insist on consistency is with our breeding program.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been gathering photographs to update the galleries on the Pearsons View web site. The hours stretched into days as I embarked on a wonderful journey of nostalgia.
Decades of newborn foal photographs all taken purposely between one and seven days old. I have selected a few of my favourites that represent our striving for consistency and to share my point. Once the photographs were all lined up together it became very clear what we were trying to achieve.
Of course the consistency is partly due to the producing consistency of both the sire and dam. But I must add that at no time did we strive for perfect, we don’t believe perfection exists. When you talk to other breeders you quickly realise every one’s idea of perfection is as varied as apples from oranges! A long time ago we decided, why strive for the unattainable. Instead we worked towards what we determined as the ideal.
“…Every breeder knows that the classical methods in the art of breeding are selection and mating. Only the best breeding stock guarantees progress, and every careful and successful breeder knows that it is invariably those animals that embody the breeding type in its purest form who come forward as transmitters of (consistent) hereditary factors. There fore we deem most valuable those animals and families which have either faithful handed done the type for years… “ Wenzler adapted from Asil Arabians II

Gorgeous baby photos! What an amazing sire Stav has been. And such a gentleman too. I can remember looking through AHN magazines and playing ‘spot the Stav progeny’. They all have his stamp that’s for sure.
