International Women’s Day – Draw a circle of Love –

International Women’s Day

He drew a circle that shut me out,
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But, LOVE and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.
-Edwin Markham-

All my life I’ve been surrounded by a circle of smart, hard working, generous women as role models. So it stands to reason that these are the sort of women I tend to seek as friends. Even the women characters in my novels are determined women that suffer through their challenges but eventually learn to meet them head on.

Today as we celebrate International Women’s Day we should think about learning to love and support one another – more! We should all draw the larger circle. Start with your nearest and dearest and draw a circle of love that includes all the ones you love. It’s easy to love the special people in your life. Now draw a larger circle to take in your friends and acquaintances everywhere.

Now the hard part, draw an even larger circle to include those who have resented or rejected you. Think of your feelings of love and understanding  as flowing out to them and taking them into the circle. Today of all days we should all applaud our fellow women’s achievements and draw them into our ever growing circles of love, support and understanding…

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” ~Diane Mariechild~
